One month after the devastating forces of Hurricane Ike ripped through the neighborhoods of their small island, students of Mr. Robert Weiss's film class returned to Galveston's Ball High School expecting to get back to work on the black-and-white silent films they were crafting before the storm hit. They were surprised to discover a new assignment: a documentary about Hurricane Ike's effect on their community.

The film class banded together with other concerned and devoted students to form a collective union of filmmakers, poets, and musicians, calling themselves "The Hurricane Story Tellers". They set out to interview people in the community. Along the way, the students found strength and understanding and finally peace, as they began to document their own stories.
